Update | Please Welcome Susan Ward

eVeltio TEN is very glad to welcome our newest contributor – Susan Ward, Instructor at Brock University, Ontario, Canada.

Susan has spent over 35 years in education in Ontario, as a classroom teacher, an elementary school administrator, an instructor and faculty advisor in Teacher Education. She has presented at provincial and national conferences on a variety of topics including how the arts can enhance social science classes, literacy supports for history programs, integrating social studies, science in the primary/junior curriculum and the value teacher candidate reflection. Specifically, her interest areas are:

  • the integration of disciplines in lessons and units of study for elementary teachers and students,
  • differentiated instruction
  • social studies / history inquiry for elementary students
  • using community resources such as museums and art galleries, as alternate places for learning and interest, both formally and informally to teachers and their students

Currently working with pre-service teacher candidates, Susan combines her enthusiasm for reflective practice with her knowledge of current teaching methods and experience with assessing teacher performance. Her aim is to help teachers hone their craft as facilitators for every child’s learning.

Susan will be writing for us every Thursday to begin with, in these areas. We hope that her presence here will be of great help and insight to our readers. Further, we are very excited as this is our first proper step in bringing teachers from the world over, to interact and share knowledge.
